Hot-wire a Car

First, a warning: Hot-wiring a car is dangerous! It's quite possible that you will receive an electrical shock.
You should also note that you cannot Hot-wire all cars. Many cars are equipped with security devices and kill switches that will prevent hot-wiring.
Step by Step
Put the car in the proper gear. If it's a manual - put it in neutral and make sure the parking break is on. If it's an automatic, make sure it's in park.
Open the hood and find the coil wire. To find it you can follow the plug wires. For V8 engines, these wires are usually located at the rear of the engine. For V6, they are usually on the left-center. For Four-cylinder engines, they are usually on the right-center of the engine.
Run a wire from the positive side of the battery to the positive side of the coil wire. This should give power to the dash.
Find the starter solenoid. On Fords, this is usually located on the passenger side fender well. GM cars usually have it located on the starter.
At the solenoid you will see a small wire and the positive battery cable. Cross these wires with a set of pliers. The engine should crank!
