You might want to just lock pick and steal, trying to take the whole car is tricky.

'Lock pick kit' - this you can buy or make, also its best to know your car first.
Gloves - trust me you will want and needs these prints are the worst evidence to leave.
*HINT* Always Try to mess the car up, this messes up the owners' mind and they do not know EXACTLY what is gone and what is left.
*HINT* Look for anything change, bills, cards - find names and lucky enough a credit card, and if you find an address then you will move from the car to their house >:).
Home made 'tool' kit - A brick (sometimes its last resorts that saves the man) a glass cutter. You know the little red thing with the little cutter wheel - good for small cuts to get the lock open.
*HINT* If you took all your time and skill to bust one that's 'empty', nothing good inside, or your time just runs up to fast grab your brick or paint or any vandalizing tool, and go wild on the car, because if you can't get the money then the owner should have to PAY for the damage of your wasted time. Don't you think so? >:).
